Series 3 Cruiser Race 2 was held in a balmy 25 degrees with 10 – 12 knots of wind.
Acting as race officer Shenanigans called for course D25 which included the Apex mark to starboard – Portmarnock to starboard – the East mark to port and then to finish at the Malahide Safe Water mark. The track from the navigation equipment on board Mon Reve. If you look closely you will see the huge wind shift on the last leg to the finish where Mon Reve pulled back at least 70 boat lengths on Kahera to over take them on Handicap and over all to second place.
Shenanigans took both line honours and first place. During the race the sailors met many challenges with the tide and the wind. At time the tides were running up to 1.4 knots (averaging 1 knot). This was very noticeable especially at the marks where in places they were pushed over.
We also had a newcomer to the race course, Focuz had her maiden race on Saturday – perhaps not what the skipper had in mind but with Michael Arthurs on board thats just what happened! They completed the course and finished with the white sail boats.
