Social Scene
With stunning views of the Lower Estuary, the nearby Island Golf Club and Lambay Island further away and a warm, inviting ambience, the St. James’s Terrace clubhouse is a popular venue for members and their friends, with uniformed bar staff on duty every evening (except Mondays when the club is closed).
Whether it’s for a casual drink or two, an après-racing gathering, a Friday night dining experience, a special social party (such as a significant birthday or anniversary) or a fund-raising event (e.g. the RNLI on St. Patrick’s Day), MYC offers comfort and a welcoming atmosphere in pleasant surroundings.
The Social Committee organises a broad range of social activities each year, from table quizzes and barbeques to parties on such occasions as New Year’s Eve, St. Valentine’s Night and Hallow‘Een, and Rugby Internationals on a big screen.
The ‘Upper Deck’ can cater for up to 50 diners and is ideal for discos and social occasions. Features of the Lower Deck include a trophy cabinet, a small library, pool table, Wi-Fi and fireplace, as well as Honours Boards marking the sailing achievements of members past and present.
Hiring MYC Premises
MYC’s St. James’s Terrace clubhouse can be rented by members for private functions, subject to certain conditions and applications being approved by the House Committee in advance.
Applications from non-members may also be considered but must be sponsored by a MYC member.
Private parties are accommodated on the ‘Upper Deck’ and catering arrangements can be made through the club’s catering contractor or by the applicant’s own caterer using the club’s kitchen facilities. A condition of hire is that the Lower Deck must always be available for the use of Club members.
The Club is also available on week-days for business/corporate meetings, meetings of clubs and associations and post-funeral hospitality, with or without the Bar facility.
