Aspiring Hero’s

Passion is infectious and there is nothing more entertaining than seeing a fellow sailor deliver a talk on the virtues and fun of our sport.
However, to captivate and entertain our Optimist and Feva sailors, (ages ranging from 9 – 13 years) for 60 minutes says volumes. Colm Roche managed this feat and gave an animated lesson on team racing, on rules, the courses and the psychology of “getting inside the head” of your opponents to “wind them up”. A fun and entertaining evening which ended with Pizza, a chance to rig a 49er and ask questions to the aspiring Olympian’s, the  Dickson – Waddilove team.
But it did not end there!
Next morning at 10am our young sailors got to practice what they learnt. The young sailors paired up with DCU students and participated in team racing. To top it off, they all got a spin in the 49er! These are the memories that will live with them for years to come.
Thanks to Colm Roche and the DCU team for inspiring and motivating our sailors!
A very enjoyable event for all.
