ISA National Powerboat Rescue and Safety Training

Course participants with instructor Dean Stapleton

recsue.training.march.2017

Last weekend six MYC members concluded the second of the two requisite weekend training courses to attain this certification. Whilst ensuring coverage of all necessary criteria to fulfil the ISA course material, the courses directed by Brian McDowell and Adventure Sailing were tailored to be of particular and practical relevance to MYC members wishing to participate in Rescue training for club racing. Hence, in conjunction with a day of open water training at HYC, 3 days of training were conducted at Broadmeadows using our rescue boats and Mrs Orange. Training featured very relevant scenarios using club Konas, Topaz and Vision dinghies, together with an exercise on mark laying.  All participants remarked on how useful and enjoyable the training proved to be.

The intention is to repeat similar courses together with Brian and Adventure Sailing, dates depending upon interest. For those members interested in participating in future courses please email Nick Berry, berry@sig.com
