After last year’s successful event, DCU Surfn’Sail joined up with DIT Sailing for another 24hr Sail in aid of The Ocean Cleanup campaign, to try tackle a huge problem affecting our seas, which is rubbish!

This year, the campaign included a talk for our juniors and parents on the Around Ireland Race and also provided an opportunity for 6 of our cadets to try sailing at night time. Well done to James, Jamie, Daniel, Timmy, Hugo and Tara.

With very challenging conditions throughout the 24hrs including gusts of up to 30 knots, the two teams managed to raise €2219 for their charity of choice!

The teams would like to thank MYC for the use of facilities and support over both events and would also like to thank everyone who donated to the campaign including their sponsors: Monster Energy, SuperValu, Camille Thai, Jamie Knox, Oriflame and Dickson Bearings.
