Joan Mulloy is coming to Ballymun!
October 8, 2018 @ 18:00 - 20:00
Mayo Sailor, Joan Mulloy, the first Irish woman to compete in the French Fiagro sailing race is coming to Ballymun on the 8th of October to the Council Chambers in the Civic Centre on the Main Street. Please note early start time its 18:00, a little bit early but worth it.
Joan will speak about her experiences, challenges and so so much more. Joan’s upbringing in Mayo will be of key interest to anyone deciding to enter the business world and who needs an inspirational, positive push as well as all you pre-existing business gurus out there. Joan grew up on a muscle farm where her family made a living through the family owned and run farm & business. Her story is truly inspirational.
In the meantime you can read about her recent exploits taking the helm of the impressive Kilcullen Team Ireland IMOCA 60 to compete in the Monaco Globe Series and aboard A Taste of the Atlantic entry in the highly competitive and gruelling single-handed La Solitaire URGO Le Figaro Race. She has also qualified to compete in the Route du Rhum Race from St Malo to Guadaloupe in November, having completed the 1300mile solo run from Portimao, Portugal to Galway in June.
During the Figaro Joan became quite the ambassador for BIM and Irish Seafood, a good proportion of which is exported to France. She has also become a major role model for young Irish women who sail and can see themselves in her shoes, plying the seas with the boys from France and Great Britain. #FirstIrishWoman. #Today’sGranuaille. Good natured, skilled, and well spoken, she’s an exceptional ambassador for Ireland overall.
Joan’s talk will also be truly invaluable to people looking to get motivated and follow their dreams. She will be competing in the Vendée Globe race (as the first Irish woman ever) and she will speak of her dedication, bravery and determination that got her to where she is today.
