Come and join the fun…

Malahide Yacht Club uses two large clubhouses to cater for a broad array of watersports, including dinghy racing, fun sailing, windsurfing, and cruiser racing. Whether you are looking for family fun, active competitive racing or a beginner looking for an introduction to the water, MYC has a broad offering for you.

An active, vibrant membership

The Broadmeadows estuary is a non-tidal, sheltered and safe area providing an ideal training and racing ground at all times of the day. Racing for both juniors and adults is held every Saturday from March to October, and every Thursday evening once daylight permits. In addition there is a weekly “fun sailing” every Tuesday evening during the summer. Regular and dependable sailing hours are a key ingredient for having large scale fleets on the water.

In addition there are always crewing opportunities in the Cruiser fleet, for both experienced and novice sailors, and both racing and more leisurely cruising. Many members sail across two or three different classes during the summer.

Large fleet of club owned equipment

Available to rent to members, the club has a large fleet of Topaz sailing dinghies (for 1-2 people), Optimists (for 8-12 year olds), Fevas, 420s, J24 keelboats, Windsurfing Rigs, RS Visions. New members can try a variety of different types of sailing in modern, well equipped boats.

Extensive training programmes

The club offers a broad array of training and coaching, from childrens summer camps, adult only beginners courses to teen and adult race coaching. We also organise at various times of the year a multitude of shore based training such as VHF radio, First Aid, Race Officer courses. Members are also facilitated in taking powerboat courses and progressing to assist in the race officer and safety roster. MYC is a recognised training centre by the Irish Sailing Association.

Fun for all the Family

The club regularly has members on the water spanning three generations, aged from 8 to 80. The nature of the club’s facilities are such that all abilities and ages can be catered for, creating a wonderful mix of experience, enthusiasm and vitality for the club’s many members.

Competitive Racing

Suitable for all levels, MYC offers regular and competitive racing across four fleets in the dinghy and windsurfer classes, and regular cruiser racing. MYC has produced six Olympians and twenty eight national champions who each learned to sail here.

Social Scene

The club’s main clubhouse in St James Terrace occupies a fantastic setting overlooking Malahide Estuary. Members have full access to the bar, in addition to monthly dining and regular social activities ranging from barbecues, regattas, to “come dine with me” and casino nights.
