Malahide Yacht Club (MYC) development philosophy is to create the opportunity for its members to have a ‘lifelong experience in sailing’, built on the following core values;
- Promoting and encouraging sailing for all ages
- Friendship and sociability,
- Fun and participation.
In alignment with this approach, the Junior Development Programme is a season long programme of activities, with the Summer (Junior) Programme designed to benchmark progression and develop proficiency through a range of Irish Sailing Courses and general coaching
Participants are expected to be actively sailing during the season to progress between levels to enhance their competence, which in the long run will produce better and more proficient MYC sailors. Those who have already completed courses in previous years will be encouraged to actively sail before the courses run from late June to late August. For entry to the 2023 courses, sailors are required to demonstrate their proficiency and completion of the required sailing hours.
To assist sailors in becoming proficient and logging the required hours to progress instructor lead session will operate on Tuesday evening (starting last week in April) - instructors will be in attendance and on the water to help hone individual sailing skills.
